Cyclone
Cyclones, also known as centrifugal separators, are used to separate particles such as bran and dust from air streams in grain and processing industries.
They are widely used for efficient and continuous separation of solid particles from air without the use of filters.
Working Principle:
- A centrifugal blower with a dynamically balanced impeller generates a high-velocity air stream, which carries particles from the equipment into the cyclone.
- As the air enters the cyclone, it moves in a high-speed circular motion. Due to centrifugal force, the heavier particles are pushed outward toward the cyclone walls.
- The air stream forms a double vortex:
An outer downward spiral carrying particles toward the bottom
An inner upward spiral of clean air moving toward the outlet
4. The separated particles lose momentum, fall downward, and are discharged through a collection device at the bottom, while the cleaned air exits from the top.
